Friday october 13 till Sunday october 15, jazz lovers were in for good times. In the Oosterpoort the JazzMarathon took place with a lot of new jazz music from Holland, the USA and France.

Since its start in 1974, the JazzMarathon has been the authoritative festival of jazz and improvised music, where the newest developements in jazz can be witnessed. Many musicians experienced their European or world premiere on the JazzMarathon.
One of those musicians is the New York music-oracle John Zorn with his Cobra project. This year again he makes a debut on the JazzMarathon, this time with his newest band 'Masada'.

Trombone player/computercomposer GEORGE LEWIS plays interactively together with an Apple.
The PODIUMTRIO celebrates its tenth anniversary with international guests, among which DAVID MURRAY, KELVYN BELL and CORNELL ROCHESTER.
TONY OVERWATER presents the result of the composition- assignment, given to him by co-producer of the JazzMarathon, the NPS. Additional program items:
