Machine Gun is growing tremendously as a movement; our collection of wave reviews (including Spin, Guitar World, Rolling Stone, CMJ, Wire, Tower Pulse and High Fidelity , among many other publications) grows daily and radio greedily devours our releases with similar gusto. This amazing band traces its lineage back to the improvisational music pioneered by Ornette Coleman, Miles Davis, Sonny Sharrock and Bill Laswell's Last Exit (all of whom Robert Musso has worked with). The Machine Gun name is taken from the 1969 FMP/Peter Brötzmann album of the same name, which features famous European improvisors. Pass the Ammo! was recorded live in the studio at Bill Laswell's Greenpoint recording complex, and at various New York clubs.
Robert Musso
Robert Musso, founder of Muworks Records, has produced dozens of
records over the last decade, and is also known for his collaboration
with Bill Laswell on well over a hundred projects varying from
Mick Jagger, Miles Davis, Iggy Pop to William S. Burroughs, just to
name a few. He has also recorded two solo releases on Muworks
Records and frequently lends his musicianship to many "downtown"
projects.
Thomas "Rage" Chapin
Thomas "Rage" Chapin, also has many albums to his credit on the
Muworks label as well as other various labels and is quikly being
recognized as a major force on the "Downtown New York" saxophone
scene. Thomas plays sax, flute and various percussion as a regular
member of Machine Gun.
Bassist Jair-Rohm Parker Wells and drummer Bill Bryant currently live in Sweden and are constantly touring Europe as a sought after rhythm section.
Poet and tape manipulator John Richey has published numerous collections of his poetry and appeared in various publications including The Village Voice and Rolling Stone.
